LOVELOVE TEAM FINALISTS FOR YOUNG CHAMBER AWARD

LoveLove Films are thrilled to announce that the company has been chosen as one of three finalists in the Young Chamber category of the Dorset Business Awards. The Young Chamber Award honours organisations that make a difference to young people by engaging with schools, universities, colleges and other educational establishments.

The LoveLove team are ecstatic to have been selected as a final contender for the Young Chamber award, which recognises those businesses dedicated in supporting the development of crucial interpersonal skills of young people whilst providing invaluable career insights for them. LoveLove Films are dedicated to retaining and developing New Talent in the Dorset Region, and have a dedicated ‘New Talent’ placement scheme, which started when LoveLove first opened its doors in 2010. The ‘New Talent’ initiative provides an example of the animation and video industry to more than 30 students a year.

Everyone here at LoveLove aims to give each and every placement student an enjoyable, engaging and pragmatic look into the media industry and its inner working, helping them develop the skills they need to succeed in their chosen fields of work. And we are happy to report that many of them have succeeded.

Tom Haines, a recent placement student said

“I did an internship as a Production Assistant at LoveLove Films, early 2017, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience working for the company, everyone was very friendly and I learnt a lot from the work I did for them and feel I expanded my plethora of production skills. I’d recommend them to anyone.”

“Brilliant placement! There’s no words that can describe how valuable I found this experience to be for future employment.”

Said another recent placement, Louis Despres.

A survey taken of the aforementioned placements students from the last two years showed that 90% of them had either stayed in education or were now working in their chosen field, with over two thirds of the respondents being in employment.

LoveLove Films are also dedicated to working with young people outside of our placement scheme. In 2017 alone LoveLove Films has worked with an array of young people and projects, including: working with young people with complex educational needs for “Martin Clunes: Riding Therapy”; participating in a range of panels and talks including Boss Talks, the BFX Regional Growth panel and the Royal Television Society ‘Meet the Professionals’ event; hosting workshops with local schools, colleges and universities; Including running TV Adverts: what you need to know’ and most recently producing a project with Bournemouth University, NHS and Mind  to raise awareness of Mental Health in young people titled “Life Unfiltered”.

Recently, LoveLove also took part in the Digital Wave event at the Bournemouth International Centre, where we met with over 1,500 students from numerous schools and spoke to them about how to get their start in the media industry. At this event, LoveLove also offered the opportunity to any hopeful animators to win a placement opportunity at LoveLove by creating a character that could be turned into a short film by our animation team. We had dozens of entries from eager young artists with three winners recently picked and announced.

Georgina Hurcombe Managing Director at Lovelove states:

“The whole LoveLove Films team are delighted to be finalist for the Young Chamber award. Young people form part of the fabric of LoveLove Films. Not only do our placement schemes give a true insight into the Production Process of an independent animation and video production company but we also gain valuable skill sets and insights from the younger generations. Most of my team are from our placement scheme over the years and we are keen to keep this pipe line going. Its important that as a region we try and retain the talent in the South if we are to grow in the areas of animation and visual effects.”

As finalists we will first be attending the traditional Dorset Business Awards ‘Meet the Finalists’ Drinks Reception on Monday 6th November, where we look forward to meeting our fellow nominees and peers. Then, the Gala Dinner on Thursday 23rd November. As former winners of a Dorset Business Awards, we can happily say that taking part in the awards is a very enjoyable and valuable experience!

The Young Chamber award is sponsored by Blue Sky Financial Planning, who themselves are dedicated to investing in young people and encouraging to reach their full potential. The other finalists in the category are Biotrack Ltd and Atlas Elektronik UK. LoveLove Films are thrilled that such great companies are also finalists – especially since Atlas Elektronik UK are one of our clients!

We are very much looking forward to the upcoming events next month so make sure to check back for updates!
