Digital Wave’s competition winner experience

Did you know that as well as producing media we also run an award winning placement scheme?

We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to inspire young talent and show younger people how they can enter the creative industry. One of our newest projects for this is our Digital Wave placement competition, where lots of young people apply for the opportunity to have a week long placement being trained by our animators.

The recent Digital Wave competition winner Caitlin has now completed her placement at LoveLove Films!

We all had a great time working with her.

This is what she had to say about the experience:

During my placement at LoveLove Films in the February half term, I was given a lot of support and was made to feel completely welcome by the crew, who helped me to develop my creative hobbies into a real skill. With the help I was able to gain more knowledge about animation and video editing to expand my illustrative skills to a whole new level that I had never experienced beforehand.

For the competition, the task was to design a character to be animated throughout the placement; therefore animating my character “Lenny” was my main task during my time with LoveLove Films. I enjoyed working in the close-knit work environment with all the friendly team members, who helped me to complete my task.

I feel as though a lot was gained through my experience with the entire team. Tom, Sunny and Andie in particular offered me a lot of help in the development of my skills in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. Being able to be involved with such talented individuals who can produce extremely high quality content at such a high speed was very beneficial to me, as I can now aim to work as hard as they do to produce such amazing results. I found it inspiring in the way that the whole team could cooperate so well by combining their individual talents to finish a project well. Following this experience, I feel as though I can now work efficiently in a busy work environment that constantly gains new and exciting opportunities.

We’re glad to hear you LoveLoved your placement Caitlin, and we hope you continue on with your animation and design skills! You can check out the animation she did below!
