Lovelove supports a wave of new talent

LoveLove Films attended the Digital Wave exhibition in Bournemouth, where hundreds of aspiring students gathered to explore the wonderful world of digital media.

The event, now in its second year, saw over 500 students from local schools and colleges descend on the BIC for an action-packed day, full of state-of-the-art technological displays, in-depth talks from some of the region’s most innovative creative minds, and of course as many sweets as you could eat!

With high profile speakers such as Redweb’s Head of Innovation David Burton, Director of Bournemouth University’s VFX Hub Peter Truckel, and successful entrepreneur Jim Cregan all wowing the audience with their insightful (and at times, hilarious) presentations, those in attendance were left in no doubt as to Bournemouth’s credentials as a hot-bed for creative digital talent.

You only have to look at the recent Tech Nation report from March that declared that Bournemouth now has the fastest growing digital economy in the UK, to know that this really is the place for digital agencies to flourish; with a 212% increase in digital start-ups between 2010 and 2013, Bournemouth’s digital economy is growing faster than that of Bristol, Manchester, and twice as fast as London—and that’s just one of the reasons why we’re so proud to be based here!

Throughout the day the LoveLove stand was alive with activity, with our very own Tom Suddrey on hand to showcase just some of the fantastic animation work we do, and helping to teach the next generation of animators the sorts of skills required to be a success in the industry.

We also had a number of wonderful entries into our ‘Win a placement’ competition—where students of all different ages designed their very own LoveLove mascots— with entrants all vying for the opportunity to become part of our team and bring their characters to life with the help of the mystical wonders of digital animation.

Here at LoveLove Films we are so proud of our close-knit ties to some of the regions finest educational institutions, and we understand the importance of supporting future generations to get involved in the industry…and we hope that all of the brilliant people we met today were inspired to go on and have their own adventures riding the digital wave!
