LoveLove Films’ day out to Punchdrunk Theatre’s ‘The Drowned Man’ an awe-inspiring and baffling experience

Business success depends on more than just the skills and abilities of individual team members — your employees need to learn how to function as a cohesive whole. That doesn’t happen by accident. It takes team building.

A good way to build stronger connections between team members is to get them out of the everyday work environment. When employees meet together outside of the day-to-day routines and predictable patterns of the workplace, they form stronger bonds and develop a better understanding of each other’s strengths and abilities and form stronger friendships. Therefore, in light of this the LoveLove team were fortunate to enjoy and submerge themselves in award winning theatre company Punchdrunk’s latest and most ambitious production: ‘The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable’. This production is an unconventional theatrical experience, a promenade production where your ‘curiosity is key’ and the audience is encouraged to explore, ‘delve in, be bold, and immerse yourself’.

It was a truly astonishing experience, the attention to detail and intricacies of the props and the sets that spanned across 4 floors of Temple Studios were astounding. You could find yourself one moment in an eerily creepy forest setting, in an artist’s intimate dressing room the next or you can take a turn in the bar, soaking up the live band and vocal artists. Audience members would rapidly follow and trail various actors throughout the plethora of theatrical sets.

Moreover, another way in which Punchdrunk’s production stands alone is the way in which members of the LoveLove team had an entirely different experiences unique to them. As the nature of the production, with multiple characters and plot arcs to follow, ensures an extremely varied experience. All audience members are urged not to talk and are provided with a white mask for the duration of the performance, which is incredibly effective and creates a somewhat voyeuristic element.

Three Word Review

Georgie: Mind-boggling surrealist adventure

Sunny: Pretentious but brilliant

Tom: My brain hurts.

Alysia: Masks and Orgies

Maxim: Where was I?

The LoveLove team thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we would like to recommend or encourage others to get a ticket here. But hurry you must act quick as ‘The Drowned Man’ after having played to over 170,000 people is due to end its theatrical run on the 6th of July
