Yesterday, 77 local business women gathered at the Langtry Manor Hotel to attend the statement event ‘She Who Dares, Wins’ ran by Matthew Desmier.

The afternoon saw the likes of Debbie Klein, Diane Young and The Guardian’s Harriet Minter give leading keynote talks to inspire more women into top agency and media positions. These high-ranking, illustrious women were a real inspiration. Promoters of the event stated that out of 80% of women who control consumer-spending power, only 3% hold Creative Director positions.

This issue was the centerpiece for the afternoon, with a panel of local, successful women such as Arabella Lewis-Smith, Founder & MD of Salad Creative, Michelle Davies, Former Client Service Director at Bright Blue Day, Katie Street – Head of Business Development at digital agency Redweb and our own managing director Georgina Hurcombe of LoveLove Films. Harriet Minter who is the head of Guardian’s Professional Women in Leadership initiative chaired a panel discussion and then opened to the floor for questions.

Topics included the success stories of these businesswomen and debates on calling modern society ‘female-friendly’. Topping everything off was a chance to network.

Overall the relaxed and friendly ambiance of the afternoon provided a relatable insight into the issues discussed and offered great opportunities for increased business relations.
