Here is an update on the ‘Champagne Networking Breakfast’ saga, (as we at LoveLove like to call it). Our MD Georgina Hurcombe thoroughly enjoyed her experience competing in the 2014 Clipper Race Regatta Day at Portsmouth on Friday the 26th September curtesy of an invite from Ollie Phillips, a former England rugby player and ambassador of Clipper, who joined the Great British Clipper Racing team in a race around the world.

Clipper: Race around the World is one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other. With no previous sailing experience necessary, it’s a record breaking 40,000 mile race around the world on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht. Normally the domain of seasoned pros, this supreme challenge is taken on by ordinary,

everyday people. Check out their website at https://clipperroundtheworld.com/ to find out more!’

Georgie can be quoted on her immersive one day encounter: ‘What a great experience I had no idea what to expect having never stepped onto a sailing boat, yet alone a 70 Ft Clipper Racing Yacht! The expert crew were really fantastic and I had a great day with the other guests as we learnt sailing techniques and raced around the Solent.’

‘Speaking with Sir Robin Knox-Johnston at the champagne reception was very inspiring as he discussed how he didn’t believe in the word ‘Can’t’ and stated that there is no such thing as impossible. Unfortunately our team on board the Derry-Londonderry-Doire Clipper didn’t win the race, however, I’ve certainly caught the sailing bug.’clipper raceclipper race 2
