As part of their Meet the Maker series, AUB invited LoveLove Films to the university to take part in a workshop led by Sally Hope, Course Leader for Visual Communications and Joseph Warin, Technical Demonstrator, who are the makers behind the unique Letterpress studio, part of the printing room facilities at AUB.
The third in the series of the Meet the Maker events, the much sought after workshop explored the cross over between old and modern visual communication tools, using abstract positioning of letterforms to understand how different forms of letters can visually compliment each other.
LoveLove Films’ Production Coordinator Faith Glenister, Writer Oliver Selby and Animator JoAnne Salmon attended the workshop which was organised by Lucy Devall, Innovation Studio Outreach Senior Officer, receiving an introduction to the profession of visual communications and explored the design principles behind the discipline. We then made our very own A5 notebook with a personalised cover using the printing process!
LoveLove Writer Oliver Selby said of the event:
“It was absolutely great getting to take part in the Meet the Maker workshop! Sally and Joseph were fantastic hosts and it’s great that AUB are supporting industry outreach activities, getting more people engaged with making and creating! The workshop started with a demo of the letterpress and ended with us making a cute personalised A5 notebook! Thanks Lucy for organising it!”
The LoveLove Films team had a great time creating LoveLove Films posters using the Letterpress, which will be framed and hung in our studio. We would like to thank AUB for this fabulous course and would encourage other business to partake in these great university led opportunities.
