LoveLove Films’ TV Graphics appear on Series 2 of ITV show easyJet: Inside the Cockpit

LoveLove Films were once again delighted to see our TV graphics on the second series of ITV’s easyJet: Inside the Cockpit, specifically the title sequence and bumpers that involves a plane flying through clouds in the sky and revealing the title.

easyJet: Inside the Cockpit is in its second series on ITV with 3 episodes this series focusing on new easyJet rookie pilots, following their journey from entering the cockpit for the first time to piloting a large jet with over a hundred passengers.

Developed by ITN Productions and commissioned by ITV’s Head of Factual Entertainment Sue Murphy and ITV Factual commissioner Satmohan Panesar, one of the main areas easyJet: Inside the Cockpit is focusing on is female pilots, with a statistic revealing that only 5% of the world’s professional pilots are made up by women. The series hopes to bring that matter to audience’s attention, with easyJet aiming to rectify it and double the number of new female pilots over the next two years.

On the difficulties of filming easyJet: Inside the Cockpit at over 30,000 feet, series producer Juliette Murray Topham wrote:

“We’re trying to show what it’s really like to dedicate yourself to this career. It takes two years to train, but we only had six months to tell that story, so we had to constantly dip into lots of different storylines. We also had only 15 flights, mostly short haul, on which to film, so we really had to make the most of every opportunity. On one occasion, our director dropped out and only the Assistant Producer was left to go on a flight. Her first broadcast camera gig was 30,000 feet up, filming a flight that was disrupted by a medical emergency.”

LoveLove Films worked on the easyJet: Inside the Cockpit TV graphics, including the title and bumpers. Working closely with ITN, the LoveLove animation team provided a title ITN were delighted with.

Below, the LoveLove animation department give an insight into creating realistic animation, outlining all the different stages he has covered in just the final week of production, and the key requirements ITN had:

“ITN sought to use an actual easyJet plane within the titles. Therefore the plane was given reflections, shadows and highlights to give a more three dimensional style. Clouds were then added to the foreground, putting the plane in amongst the cloud layers as well as a live sky background. The idea was for the plane to move and reveal the title of the show, and for that, contrails were added to give the shot more realism and provide a border for the text. The text, “Inside the Cockpit”, was designed to be cloud-like as well to keep with the realism theme. Using a gradient transparency, the text was made to appear after the plane flew by, giving even more of a cloud effect.”
