LoveLove Films celebrate the arrival of our Ekotopfilm / Envirofilm Award for We Save Land

LoveLove Films are delighted that our short-animated film ‘We Save Land’ has won the Main Prize – Children and Youth – Prize of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic at the Ekotopfilm / Envirofilm Awards 2017. Today the award arrived and the team are thrilled to have such a beautifully crafted trophy as a testament to the hard work and passion put in to the project.

Summit Land Conservancy have been driven to save the natural way of life for their wildlife and communities in Summit County, Utah, since 2002. To further raise awareness for their mission they commissioned LoveLove Films to create a short-animated film that would express their core values while being both entertaining and educational.

When initially approached by Summit Land Conservancy, LoveLove Films pitched what began as a 1 minute long illustrated film. However, as production began it quickly evolved into a challenging passion project for our team!

The final film, ‘We Save Land’, uses both hand drawn and computer-generated animation techniques to create a heart-warming animation depicting a young boy’s carefree adventures in the natural landscape. Sadly, the boy’s long, happy days and nights spent playing in the woods and camping beneath the stars is abruptly brought to a halt when diggers and earthmovers roll in.

LoveLove Films Art Director Joanne Salmon stated: “We were given so much creative freedom on the project we could really go wild with our imaginations. The team became incredibly passionate about the project, especially it’s environment and nature preservation message! It was incredibly hard work, but the team had a lot of fun… and a lot coffee and takeaways!”.

The team’s dedication to the project paid off as LoveLove Films has won the main award at the Ekotopfilm Festival based in Slovakia. Ekotopfilm/Envirofilm is an International Festival of Sustainable Development Films and is the oldest and the biggest of its kind in the world, having ran for 44 years. The festival highlights and raises awareness to both pressing environmental issues and the important role of community media. The intent of the festival is to demonstrate the power of film in communicating important issues and sustainable development themes. Other recipients of awards included Blur’s Alex James for his ‘Fast Fashion’ documentary.

Funnily enough, we received Alex James’ award first by mistake and they received ours – luckily, after much confusion we managed to arrange a swap and both parties received the correct awards a couple of days later.

The awards ceremony took place on 26th May in the Hall of Mirrors of the Primate’s Palace, in Bratislava. The award was the ‘Children and Youth Prize of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.’ For winning, we received a beautiful, hand crafted glass trophy, a limited design by Achilleas Sdoukas, renowned glass artist. The team were busy in production of a TV advert at the time of the ceremony, but we are delighted that the British Embassy would be there to collect the award on their behalf.

In response to receiving the award, Georgina Hurcombe continued, “We at LoveLove Films are absolutely delighted to have won this award for ‘We Save Land’! It really is a great testament to the hard work and dedication put in by all the team! We are all really passionate about creating content that inspires environmental awareness, so this award does mean a lot! We are also currently developing a children’s preschool show which shares a positive message about the environment which we are particularly excited about.”
