LoveLove MD Georgina Hurcombe named as Business Owner of the Year finalist at the Women in Business Awards 2017

In what’s already been a great year for LoveLove Films, we are delighted to announce that our Managing Director, Georgina Hurcombe has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Women in Business awards.

Women in Business sets out to celebrate, encourage and inspire successful and aspiring businesswomen in the South of the UK. Now in its fourth year, Women in Business has grown into more than just an awards event, it has become a campaign that celebrates and spotlights organisations and individuals across all sectors of business who have excelled in their specific business, profession or organisation. Last year, The Baroness Mone of Mayfair OBE, Lady Michelle Mone of Mayfair spoke at the event, using her success to inspire others. This year, the campaign has been personally endorsed by prime minister Theresa May.

The benefits of being nominated for an award such as this are huge for enhancing profile and reputation and the rest of the LoveLove team are thrilled to see Georgina being recognised at a level such as this for all the hard work she dedicates to LoveLove Films.

Nominated by LoveLove’s own Production Co-Ordinator Faith Glenister, one of a number of employees to have benefited from the New Talent Placement Scheme implemented by Georgina that takes on around 30 students a year. One of the key things Georgina has been recognised for is the “wealth of opportunities she provides for young people,” frequently giving keen young people with a passion for media and digital an entry into the media world. As well as Faith, animators JoAnne, Sunny and production assistant Shannon were all hired the same way.

The heights Georgina has scaled with LoveLove in such a short space of time has been hard to not focus on also. In just seven years, she has founded a company from scratch and turned them into a big player that produces content regularly shown on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and online. The only way is up too, with a number of exciting new ventures and projects planned to take LoveLove further forward, such as an animated preschool show in development that we are particularly excited about.

As written before, Georgina’s rise with LoveLove has been well documented by Virgin Media and  The Guardian. As if her business management skills weren’t enough, she also talked about the trouble and discrimination she has faced in the past for being a young woman starting her own media business. The doubting she faced has only made her stronger and more determined, a key facet Women in Business always look out for in their finalists.

This isn’t the first time Georgina has found herself in a position such as this either. In 2013, Georgina won Barclay Wealth Business Woman of the Year at the DCCI . In 2015, LoveLove Films won the Engagement with Education Award again at the  DBA . One year later, she was selected from over 60,000 candidates to attend the LinkedIn “Are You Ready for Tomorrow?” event in Iceland. And as already blogged about a month ago, she was named as a semi-finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year category at the Venus Awards for the second year in a row.

This year has already proven to be very special for Georgina, and by the end of it, it could be even better. Either way the future is bright for Georgina and LoveLove Films and long may it continue!

Georgina States:

“I am absolutely delighted to have been named a finalist and hope to think my journey could act as a positive story for women going into business. I was lucky enough last year to go to the awards as a guest and found the event to be extremely inspirational so I am really excited to be a finalist this year!

Of course where it is lovely to be selected for an award as an individual, it must be noted that I have a truly fantastic team behind me at LoveLove films that I couldn’t do any of this without!”
